Research

Research at the Catholic University of Lyon is carried out by the five faculties, with the support of the Research Committee and the Scientific Council: 

- Faculty of Theology
- Faculty of Philosophy and Human Sciences
- Faculty of Law, Economics and Social Sciences
- Faculty of Sciences
- Faculty of Language and Literature.

 

Basic research is conducted within the faculties by 'clusters' of researchers on topics including:

- Theology, patristics and semiotics
- Philosophy and Christianity, Philosophy, Ethics and Human Sciences
- Life Sciences
- Organisational management and corporate social responsibility
- Regional languages and cultures.

There are also recognised 'clusters of expertise':

As a response to the needs of a changing world, over the years the University has set up specialist research and education units specialising in:

- Human rights
- Ethics: bioethics, ethics and health, ethics in the workplace
- Family sciences
- Regional development: France and developing countries
- Intercultural and inter-religious dialogue.
