UNESCO Chair in Memory, Cultures and Interculturality

Chaire UNESCOThe Catholic University of Lyon has hosted a UNESCO chair in Memory, Cultures and Interculturality since november 2007.




 

It has three objectives:

- education (through courses, seminars and conferences)
- fundamental research leading to publications
- programmes on the ground at international level


The UNESCO Chair focuses its activity on three principal themes:

- the foundations of interculturality
- issues for interculturality in the context of globalisation
- intercultural understanding.

The Chair co-operates with a network of around 20 other UNESCO chairs throughout the world that work to promote intercultural and interreligious dialogue through the University Twinning and Network Scheme (UNITWIN).  

The Chair is currently held by Joseph Yacoub, Professor of Political Science and lecturer at the Institute of Human Rights at the Catholic University of Lyon.
